Church in Kiikka
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Evangelical Lutheran Church was deeply embedded in Finnish society. Almost all Finns were members, and the church was a cornerstone of everyday life. Religious observance was a communal activity, with regular attendance at services and participation in key sacraments like baptism, confirmation, marriage, and funerals. These practices not only provided spiritual guidance but also reinforced social cohesion and cultural continuity. Church festivals and holidays were significant occasions that brought communities together, highlighting the church's role in shaping both personal and collective identities.
