Millstone Makers in Säkylä
The men of Säkylä make millstones for grinding wheat and other grains.
Millstones have two parts - a convex base that remains stationary called the ‘bedstone’ and a concave rotating ‘runner stone’. Grain is ground between the stones and their shape moves the flour to the outer edge, where it can be gathered for use.
