Ski Hill in Katajanokka
A crowd gathers to watch skiers on the ski hill in Katajanokka, Helsinki in 1887. A young boy hits a jump and others wait their turn patiently. It’s a bit of a climb to the top of the hill.
Skiing is deeply ingrained in Finnish culture, and traditional events, competitions, and festivals often involve skiing. It serves as a form of entertainment and physical activity during the long winter months.
