Uspenski Cathedral, Helsinki

Uspenski Cathedral towers over the city of Helsinki, Finland in the Katajanokka District. The largest Greek Orthodox church in Western Europe, it was designed by Russian architect Aleksey Gornostayev and built after his death from 1862-1868.

The photograph was taken in the year following the completion of the cathedral. Note the wooden buildings in the foreground.
