Reconstruction of the Swedish Theatre After Fire
After the devastating fire that destroyed Turku’s Swedish Theatre in 1881, reconstruction efforts began quickly. This photograph shows the courtyard side of the building as repair work was underway. Wooden scaffolding lines the walls, and ladders reach the damaged roof as workers prepare for restoration. Despite the destruction, rebuilding efforts ensured that the theatre would once again be a cultural hub for the city.
