One Archbishop, Two Bishops
Lutheranism, introduced during the 16th century Reformation, was the dominant religion in Finland in the late 1800s. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland is a national church of Finland along with the Orthodox Church of Finland.
Edvard Bergenheim (centre) was the Archbishop of Turku and the spiritual head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland from 1850 to 1884.
Carl Gustaf Ottelin (left) was Bishop of Porvoo between 1838 and 1864.
Robert Valentin Frosterus (right) was the first Bishop of Kuopio, serving between 1851 and 1884. He was one of the founders of the Finnish Literary Society in 1831.
