Hanko Fire Tower
The Hanko Fire Tower, built in the late 19th century in 1886 and situated atop Vartiovuori Hill, served as a vital element in the town's fire prevention and safety infrastructure. Constructed mainly of wood, it stood as a tall structure, providing firefighters with an advantageous vantage point to surveil the town and its surroundings for any signs of fire.
What a gorgeous building for such a practical purpose!
