Emperor Alexander II Visits Helsinki in 1863
Helsinki welcomes Emperor Alexander II of Russia on July 28, 1863. At the time, Finland was a Grand Duchy of Russia and Alexander II was the Grand Duke of Finland. Finland gained its independence in 1917.
