Winter Landscape in Helsinki
Horses pull passengers on low sleighs through the snowy Eläintarha (Zoo) park in Helsinki, Finland in the late 1800s. Despite its name, there has never been a zoo on the grounds of the park. The park was founded in 1851 by Henrik Borgström, a Finnish businessman who played a significant role in Helsinki’s business and cultural life.
In the background, we can see Weil’s villa (Villa no. 2) on the right and further back, Villa no. 3. The park is located in the centre of Helsinki and is currently home to many different sport and cultural facilities.
