Hôtel d'Europe in Viipuri
Situated in the heart of Viipuri near the main train station, Hotel d'Europe stood as a symbol of the city's rich architectural heritage. Designed initially as a public sauna by city architect Bosin in 1856 on the merchant Leonoff's plot of land, the building underwent an evolution over the decades. In 1881, under the supervision of Fredrik Odenwall, a significant facade renovation further enhanced its grandeur.
However, Hotel d'Europe's legacy extends beyond its architectural splendor. In the same year of 1881, it embraced a new role by opening its doors as a luxurious hotel under the leadership of G. Forström.
