Kaisaniemi Park
Kaisaniemi Park has been a central part of Helsinki since the early 1800s, offering green space close to the city centre. Named after restaurateur Catharina “Cajsa” Wahllund, it became one of the city's first public parks and has remained a popular place for walking, resting, and recreation.
In winter, the park’s open spaces transformed into paths packed down by foot traffic, horse-drawn sleighs, and city workers. While today it’s bordered by busy streets and buildings, the park in the 1890s still felt like a natural break from the growing city.
