A Man in Uniform and a Bicycle
Bicycles in Finland in the late 1800s were a novel and exciting mode of transportation that gained popularity during that period, just as they did in many other parts of the world.
The first bicycles, also known as "velocipedes" or "bone-shakers," made their appearance in Finland in the 1860s. These early bicycles had wooden frames and metal wheels with iron tires, making for a bumpy and uncomfortable ride.
Bicycle designs evolved over time and improvements were made to enhance comfort and performance. Pneumatic tires were introduced in the 1880s, providing a much smoother ride.
