Fishing Port of Turku
Small fishing boats moored on the Aurajoki (Aura River) in front of Turku Cathedral in the 1890s. Turku is Finland’s oldest city and its harbour was a place of diverse interactions. Locals, fishermen, sailors, traders and travelers from different regions would have converged at the harbour, creating a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The port of Turku currently serves the Baltic Sea region, with frequent service to Stockholm and the Åland islands.
