Turku's Orthodox Church and Market Square
People gather in Turku’s market square in front of the spectacular Orthodox Church. Designed by Carl Ludvig Engel, it was built by decree of Emperor Nicholas I of Russia (and Grand Duke of Finland) in 1838. Work on the church was completed in 1845.
