Sami, Reindeer and Constance Ullner
Constance Ullner, a dedicated advocate for animal welfare in Finland, pictured alongside a reindeer and a gathering of Sami people. Ullner played a pivotal role in the initiatives of the Helsinki Animal Protection Society, established in 1874, serving as its chairperson from 1916 to 1926.
The Sami are an indigenous people inhabiting the northern regions of Scandinavia, including parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Kola Peninsula in Russia. The Sami have a rich cultural heritage and a unique way of life closely tied to the Arctic environment.
