Lieutenant Georg Edvard Ramsay and his wife Elisabeth

Lieutenant Georg Edvard Ramsay with his wife Elisabeth (Lilli) in the early 1860s. Married in 1861, Elisabeth Ramsay nee Cummings was the daughter of an English businessman. The photograph was taken in St. Petersburg, where Lieutenant Ramsay served in the Finnish army under the Russian Empire. Ramsay was Commander of the Finnish military from 1880-1902.

Georg and Elisabeth had one son, Colonel Edvard Alexander Ramsay, and three daughters, two of whom served the Empress as ladies-in-waiting and one who married Lieutenant General Nikolai Mexmontan.
