Wintery Vaasa
A view down Hovioikeudenpuistikko (Court of Appeal Boulevard) in Vaasa, Finland in 1886 with the church in the background. Vaasa is located on the western coast of Finland, along the Gulf of Bothnia, which is part of the Baltic Sea. It is the regional capital of the Ostrobothnia region.
Vaasa experienced significant industrial growth during the late 1800s, particularly in shipbuilding and lumber industries. The construction of ships and boats was a prominent economic activity, driven by the city's coastal location and access to timber resources from nearby forests.
