Finnish General Exhibition Art Gallery

The art gallery loft at the Helsinki General Exhibition of 1876 showcased the works of 61 painters, totaling 257 paintings. Among them were notable architectural drawings by Engel and Edelfelt, offering insights into Finland's architectural heritage.

Highlights of the exhibition included Becker's ‘Grandma is Visiting’, depicting a familial scene in Ostrobothnia, and Ekman's ‘Haymaking’, capturing the serenity of rural life. Other noteworthy works included Holmberg's ‘In the Archipelago’, Lindholm's ‘Hearty Summer Morning in the Uusimaa Archipelago’, and Löfgren's ‘Hagar in the Wilderness’.

Jansson's paintings offered glimpses into social life, including courtship in Åland and scenes of everyday activities. Keinänen's ‘Haudalla’ portrayed a poignant moment of remembrance by a grave.

The art gallery loft provided a diverse display of Finnish artistry, showcasing both architectural designs and paintings that captured everyday life and the natural beauty of Finland.
