S/S Astraea in Winter Ice
The Astraea was built in 1891 and served as a steamship for FÅA (Finnish Steamship Company) until 1930. Designed for winter navigation, it operated through icy seas, ensuring continued travel and trade between Finnish ports and beyond during Finland’s cold winters. The ship was part of Finland's efforts to maintain reliable maritime connections despite challenging conditions.
